Project Overview
WOW Electronics completed a multi-year modernization of the entertainment, control, audio/video distribution and onboard network systems aboard M/Y Valkyrie, a 120-foot Crescent motor yacht. The work began with a detailed survey of the yacht's existing systems and evolved into a broad retrofit spanning guest entertainment spaces, exterior decks, the pilot house, equipment locations and onboard connectivity.
The project combined custom Crestron control, distributed audio and video, weather-resistant exterior entertainment, Kaleidescape media playback, Apple TV and satellite sources, multi-room audio, Wi-Fi/network infrastructure and custom equipment-rack work. The system had to be modernized without compromising the yacht's finished mahogany interiors or the tight equipment spaces typical of a large motor yacht.

The Challenge: Modern Technology Inside a Custom Yacht
Valkyrie already contained years of legacy AV, switching, control and cabling. The first phase was not simply replacing televisions. WOW documented existing control points, signal paths, equipment locations, cabinet dimensions and wiring routes throughout the vessel so new systems could be incorporated into the existing architecture.
Marine retrofits add constraints that are less common in a typical residential or commercial project: equipment must fit into purpose-built cabinetry, heat and ventilation must be considered, cable routes are limited, exterior equipment is exposed to a harsher environment, and serviceability matters because the vessel may travel far from the original integrator.
Custom Crestron Control
The modernization centered on Crestron control. New Crestron processors, fixed touchscreens and handheld touchscreen remotes were integrated throughout the yacht, providing a consistent interface for entertainment and selected onboard video functions. In the pilot house, the custom interface brought AV source selection and selected onboard video-source control into the touchscreen environment while retaining the dedicated marine systems used to operate the vessel.

Distributed Entertainment Throughout the Vessel
Entertainment was distributed across interior and exterior areas instead of being treated as isolated televisions. The system incorporated multiple displays, Apple TV, satellite television, 4K Blu-ray sources, Kaleidescape movie playback, AV receivers and HDMI/HDBaseT distribution. Audio systems and source control were coordinated so guest spaces could be operated without requiring access to hidden equipment racks.
The documented work included the salon, galley, stateroom areas, exterior decks, flybridge, fishing deck and other guest-use spaces. Multiple equipment locations were built into existing cabinetry so the technology remained accessible for service while preserving the yacht's finished appearance.

Exterior Audio & Video
Exterior entertainment was a significant part of the retrofit. Weather-resistant displays and JBL outdoor loudspeakers were integrated into deck and cockpit areas so television, music and other media could be enjoyed outside without relying on temporary equipment. The work included exterior television locations on the aft deck/fishing area and upper-deck entertainment spaces.

Onboard Network & Infrastructure
A reliable network was necessary for control, streaming, connected media and wireless access throughout the vessel. WOW installed and upgraded router, managed/PoE switching, wireless access points, intelligent power distribution and structured cabling components. The goal was not simply adding Wi-Fi; the network became part of the AV and control infrastructure that tied the vessel's modern entertainment systems together.
Kaleidescape, Streaming & Multi-Room Audio
The project included Kaleidescape movie players and storage upgrades, Sonos Connect streaming sources, satellite/XM audio sources and multi-room audio components. This gave the yacht multiple ways to access music and video while allowing the underlying equipment to remain hidden in dedicated AV locations.

Ongoing Service & Upgrade Support
WOW's involvement continued beyond the initial retrofit. Project records document later Kaleidescape upgrades, Sonos and satellite-audio work, AV receiver service, salon television and signal-distribution troubleshooting, network resets, camera programming and other service calls through subsequent years. That ongoing support was important on a system where entertainment, control and network components were distributed throughout a large vessel.
The Result
The completed project replaced a patchwork of aging AV and control components with a more modern, integrated platform while respecting the yacht's existing architecture and custom millwork. Guests gained convenient access to entertainment across interior and exterior spaces, while the system provided a more consistent control experience and serviceable equipment locations throughout the vessel.
For WOW Electronics, Valkyrie demonstrates the ability to take on a technically complex marine retrofit: survey the existing systems, preserve what still makes sense, modernize the control and entertainment platform, build around space and service constraints, and support the system after the original installation.
